Coroner Reform Bill

Key Benefits
Would produce an effective and accountable service - replacing one which the Shipman Inquiry found unaccountable, insensitive and ineffective.

Bereaved people will be at the centre of the service.

Efficient and comprehensive reporting and recording of all deaths and their causes.

More accurate recording of the cause of deaths will help to inform and improve national and local public health policies.

Provide greater transparency in death certification and registration and increase public confidence in the system.
