Scrutiny of the Draft Legislative Programme

The Modernisation Committee publishes report on the Draft Legislative Process (DLP)

The Modernisation Committee published its first report of the 2007-08 session on the 23 January into "Scrutiny of the draft Legislative Process" (HC81).  The report confirms that "the publication of the DLP was welcomed by all those who gave evidence to this inquiry.  We agree that it represents a positive addition to the Government's existing consultations on individual bills".  The report also states that the "publication of a Draft Programme offers the opportunity to improve public understanding of and involvement in the legislative process".  The Government will respond to the report in due course.
