PENSIONS FOR MEMBERS OF DEVOLVED BODIES

The Scottish Parliament, National Assembly for Wales and the Northern Ireland Assembly all have powers to provide pension schemes for their members.  The SSRB, in its report on the terms and conditions to be provided initially, recommended that pensions should follow the model used for Westminster MPs.  Schemes have now been established and broadly mirror that for Westminster, but it should be noted that the members of those bodies are free to diverge from the Westminster model if they wish.
